Women of St. Cecilia
The Women of St. Cecilia, an organization that welcomes all women of the parish, has been in existence for over 30 years. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, meetings were held on the second Tuesday of every month at 6 PM in the kitchen of the Carmelite Spiritual Center. (Our meetings finish in time to attend Fr. Ashley’s “In the News” seminar at 7:30 PM.) We are hopeful that we will be able to resume this schedule soon.
Our primary mission is to help bring the light of Christ to all in our community. This is accomplished via three goals: the first is spiritual – to enhance and deepen our own faith as well as that of others with whom we come into contact. The second is charitable – to give aid, whenever possible, to others. Our third goal is social – to promote friendship and understanding among parishioners of diverse cultures, all the while serving the parish of St. Cecilia.
Our history is rich in good works. We have provided financial aid to families in need, as well as financial gifts to the Church. In 2019, we hosted a “Christmas Shop” fundraiser and the proceeds were given to the Carmelite Missions and the Carmelite Spiritual Center. Presently we have a “Baby Shower” each Spring - collecting donations of children’s clothes, toys, diapers, etc.. The gifts are presented to the Office of Concern for distribution to families with young children in need. We are active in spiritual readings, prayer services and a retreat for women. The group enjoys a Spring brunch after Mass, usually in June, and a Christmas dinner held in December.
We look forward to a future filled with prayerful activity and good works.
